Pride
Pride is the most radical and universal of the sins. It can blossom anywhere, anytime and out of any action or passion. This sin is connected to the desire that every living being has to be oneself and to reach the fulfilment of one’s own potential, while reaching this potential without loosing what we are or what we have. If one strays from this path, even in the slightest, then one sins in pride; independence does not mean having no need for others, and to realize one’s potential does not mean being alone in the universe. That solitude which is enough in and of itself belongs only to God, and to sin of Pride is to sin in godliness. And the pain lies in being forced to play the role of God without being God.
